In 1954 Walt Disney Pictures released one of their most ambitious live action films. The cinematic adaptation of Jules Verne's 1879 novel, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."  In addition to being one of the first motion pictures to be filmed in CinemaScope, this was also Disney's first feature-length film to be distributed by Buena Vista Distribution. Audiences flocked to cinemas to witness some of the most incredible visual effects put to film. Advertised as "The Mightiest Motion Picture of Them All," the production team was responsible for designing the richly detailed world in which Captain Nemo and his crew reside aboard the Nautilus. Here, Victorian elegance is blended with the industrial necessities of the crew.

Amongst those necessities is the Electro Spear. A beautifully crafted device that allowed the crew of the Nautilus to explore their underwater world and defend themselves from dangerous creatures of the deep.
